Head Football Coach / Associate Director of Athletics
Kirk Fridrich joined the Union Athletic Department as Associate Athletic Director and head football coach in January of 2007, returning to Union after a five-year absence. Fridrich was an assistant varsity coach for the Redskins from 1993-2001, leaving to accept the head football coaching position at Stillwater Public Schools where he remained until 2005. In 2006, Coach Fridrich became the head football coach for Owasso Public Schools, where he led the Owasso Rams to the 2006 6A State Semi-Finals.
In his twelve years as head coach at Union, Kirk has led the Union Redskins to a record of 141-20, with ten state final appearances and five championships.
Coach Fridrich earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa and Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University.
Coach Fridrich and his wife, Tina, have been married for twenty years. They attend Asbury United Methodist Church and have two sons, Joshua (18) and John Thomas (13).
Defensive Line Coach
Coach Brown has been in education and coaching for twenty-one years. During that time, he has coached football, baseball, track, and junior high golf, as well as served as equipment manager for ten years. As a varsity football coach, Coach Brown has coached defensive line and long snappers. Coach Brown is also a varsity baseball coach for the Redskins. Coach Brown has been happily married to Kristin for 26 years. Together they have three sons. Justin is 25 and is teacher and an assistant baseball coach for Union High School. Cade is 21 and a student at UCO studying to be a police officer, and Jaxon is 15 and in the ninth grade.
Luther Carr III
Coach Carr was born and raised in Seattle, WA. After graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle, Coach Carr attended Eastern Washington University on a full scholarship to play wide receiver for the Eagles. Carr is a 1995 graduate of EWU with a B.A. in Education, and also earned a Masters of Sports Science from United States Sports Academy in 2016.
In his fourth year at Union, Coach Carr brings twenty-six years of football coaching experience in both high school and college, including a stint as head coach for his alma mater, Garfield HS, and assistant at the University of Montana and the University of Idaho. Carr was also the head coach at Chief Sealth HS in Seattle.
Coach Carr has sixteen years of secondary teaching experience. At Union High School, Carr teaches APUSH, US History, and Psychology. He is the cornerback’s coach for the Redskins.
Coach Carr also has two daughters Amaria 13, and Jasmine 12.
Special Teams Coordinator
Jon is entering his 30th year of coaching and 26th year at Union coaching varsity football. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1992 with a degree in Math Education and graduated from Lamar University in 2015 with a master degree in administration. He and his wife Angie were married that summer and moved to San Bernardino, CA. where Jon served as Defensive Coordinator for three seasons. In 1995 the opportunity to “come home” was too tempting and they began the journey back to Oklahoma to coach for Bill Blankenship at Union. He has taught math at the high school his entire tenure at Union. Having been at Union for so many years has provided him to be part of 278 wins. Jon has been honored to be part of 19 District Championships and 25 playoff appearances, which includes seven State Runner Up and eight State Championships. Jon has coached every defensive position and currently serves as Special Teams Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator. He and his wife Angie have been married for 28 years and have two children Jordan and Alex. Jordan will pursue a degree in Nursing from Rogers State University and Alex will continue to chase his dream in hockey.
Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach
Coach Foster is entering his 10th year at Union and starting his 17th year teaching and 20th year coaching. He is a graduate of Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in science education. Coach Foster also has a master’s degree in sport management from Adams State University. Coach Foster is the Defensive Coordinator and will be coaching safeties this year. He is married to Veronica Foster, who is a graduate of Union High School and the biggest fan of the football team. Veronica can manage a coach’s family better than the coach manages a practice. Coach Foster and Veronica have a daughter, Victoria, who is a sixth grader this year. Victoria loves her football boys and will be a ball-girl this year for the team.
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
Kyle Fridrich is entering his ninth year as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Union Redskins. Kyle graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Health and Physical Education. He is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and he also holds the USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach Certification. Kyle and his wife Heather have two children (Paisley 8 & Sawyer 4). Kyle and his family are excited for a championship season in 2020.
In 2020 Coach Mashburn is in 5th year at Union his 9th year of teaching and 10 year of coaching. After graduating from Muskogee High School, he earned a degree in social studies education at East Central University in Ada, OK. Mashburn coached at Muskogee for one year, then continued coaching for four years at Norman High School before coming to Union in 2016. In his 5th year at Union, Coach Mashburn will work with linebackers, while teaching US History at the Eighth Grade Center. Coach Mashburn is happily married to his wonderful wife, Leah Mashburn.
Coach Pearson begins his 29th year coaching Varsity Football. He is a graduate of Broken Arrow High School where he was 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Conference, District Offensive Player of the Year in 1983 and Team MVP in 1983.
Coach Pearson received his degree from Emporia State University in Kansas where he was also a 4-year starter at Quarterback. He helped lead Emporia to its first national playoff appearance and left ranked #2 in school history for total yards gained. Coach Pearson also has his masters in Secondary Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Coach Pearson’s coaching stops include Putnam City High School where he served as Head Coach, Chaparral High School where he served as the Head Coach, Broken Arrow High School where he served as Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach and Union High School where he served as Offensive Coordinator and helped the Redskins win 4 state championships.
He has been married for 31 years to Lana who teaches in the Broken Arrow school district. Their children and grandchildren include Kale, Caitie, Keegan, Kaylor and Kyler.
Offensive Line Coach
Chance Riley is entering his sixth year with Union. After graduating from Collinsville High School in 2007, Chance attended Pittsburg State University, where he was a member of the Pittsburg State football team and part of the 2011 National Championship team. Coach Riley has also served for two years as a graduate assistant at Pittsburg State working with the offensive line, and received a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. At Union, Chance teaches World History at the High School and coaches the offensive line. Chance has been married to his wife Savannah Riley for five years. They have a four-year-old daughter named Chapel, and a one-year-old son named Riggs.
Outside Linebackers Coach
Coach Luke Snider, a 2010 Union High School graduate, is in his sixth year of teaching and coaching. After playing on the 2008 and 2009 State Championship football teams, Luke continued his football career at the University of Tulsa, where was named the Special Teams Player of the Year at TU in both 2013 and 2014. Luke comes from a distinguished coaching family, his father, Gary Snider, coached at Union from 1996-2005. Luke’s grandfather, Lee Snider, was also a head football coach for many years. Luke teaches PE at Peters Elementary, and will be working with the linebackers, as well as the HS Track Team. In June of 2014, Luke married Jordan, the love of his life, and together they attend Church on the Move. Luke and Jordan are the proud parents of Daxton Paul Snider (4), and Steele Garyson Snider (1).
Coach Trujillo is entering his ninth season with Union and his twenty-first year teaching and coaching. He is a graduate of Farmington High School in New Mexico. After graduating high school, he pursued a degree in social studies education at Bethany College, KS and Pittsburg State University, KS. Coach Trujillo started his coaching career at Chandler High School in Chandler, AZ, and has had stops at Apache Junction, AZ, Eastern Arizona College, and was the Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Head at Farmington High School in New Mexico. Coach Trujillo will be coaching on the defensive side of the ball Coach Trujillo is married to Mila Trujillo who is an Assistant Principal at Union 6th/7th Center. They have 3 daughters BriAnna 26 (Union graduate 2013), Aaliyah 22 (Union graduate 2017), and Alexis 20 (Union graduate 2018).
Assistant Head Coach / Wide Receivers Coach
After a five year hiatus from coaching, serving as an athletic director and assistant principal, Coach Witcher returned to Union in the fall of 2016. His first tour of duty as an assistant varsity coach for the Redskins occurred from 2002-2005. An educator for 27 years, he is a graduate of Midwest City High School (’86) and Oklahoma State University (’91). His wife, Lisa, is also a district administrator for Union. The Witcher’s have two children, Taylor and Wade. Both are Union graduates.
Tight Ends Coach
Coach Young is starting his 7th year at Union and his 18th year teaching and coaching. He is a graduate of Weatherford High School in western Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he pursued a degree in Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Coach Young started his coaching career at Ellison High School in Killeen, TX, and has had stops at Chisholm (Enid, OK), and Prague, OK. Here at Union he coaches the tight ends, assists with the offensive line, and also teaches math. Scott and his wife Allison have two daughters Raelee, 16, and Avery, 13.
Wide Receivers Coach
Coach Ulibarri is entering his 1st year at Union and his 15th year coaching. He is a graduate of Murrieta Valley HS in Southern California and Culver-Stockton College in Missouri. Coach Ulibarri has coached at Warrington HS (MO), Holt HS (MO), Jenks HS (OK), and Victory Christian HS (OK). Here at Union he will be working in the SPED Dept at the High School and coaching the WR’s. Coach Ulibarri is happily married to his wife Stacy.
Howard Scarborough Jr
Howard Scarborough Jr. is entering his second year of coaching Union football and second year of teaching. He is a Union lifer and graduated in 2009. He was a three-year letterman on the Union Varsity football team and was also a two-sport athlete for the Redskins as a member of the Union Varsity basketball team. He was the captain of the 2008/2009 Football team when Union won one their State Championship with Coach Fredrick. Howard received a full-ride scholarship to continue playing football at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO where he was a four-year letterman with 36 career starts. In 2014, Howard graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation. In 2016, he was inducted into the Union’s Hall of Fame. In 2018, he received his Master of Science in Administrative Studies. Just days before him and his wife, Heather, received their Masters, their first son, Kingston, was born. Howard will coach the Safeties.
Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach
Dub Maddox is entering his 21st season in coaching. Before coming to Union he spent two years as the Head Coach at Victory Christian High School. He also spent 13 years as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach at Jenks High School, one year at Palmetto Ridge High School in Naples, FL and four years at Broken Arrow High School as a Wide Receivers coach.
Coach Maddox holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Northeastern State University. He is also a six-time state championship winning coach. His offenses hold numerous all-time school and state records. In the offseason Coach Maddox runs quarterback camps across the country and consults with coaches at all levels on offensive strategy.
Coach Maddox has been married to the love of his life Tanya Maddox for six years. Together they have a son, 15 month old Tyzer.
Offensive Line Coach
Coach Doug Greenwood is entering his first season at Union High School as Varsity Offensive Line Coach. He is a graduate of Doherty HS in Colorado Springs, and Southern Illinois University. In 1994 (after serving 8 years in the U.S. Air Force), Coach Greenwood began his coaching career at Anna-Jonesboro HS in Illinois, and had stops at Jenks, Gravette, and Victory Christian. During his 27 year coaching tenure, Coach Greenwood has been a head coach, defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, and position coach. Coach Greenwood and his wife Nancy, have 6 children, Chris, Jacy, Hannah, Ellie, Annie, and Canton.
